Melissa Schweitzer, Program Director
Welcome to the Arnstein Jewish Community Center Preschool. Since 1956, the AJCC preschool has provided the greater Knoxville Community, with the opportunity to send their children to a rich learning, culturally diverse, and embracing environment within the cozy confines of the Arnstein Jewish Community Center. Our program is open to all creeds, faiths, and ethnicities. Our Philosophy
Our "hands on" approach to learning incorporates experimentation and discovery as basic tools for growth. Each child is treated as an individual and is encouraged to help develop his/her sense of responsibility, curiosity, independence, self-control, and social skills.
The Early Childhood Program serves children 16 months through 5 years of age. Children are placed in classes according to their birthday as of September 30 of each academic year. The children remain in the same class with the same group of children throughout the entire year and move to a new class the following September. Exceptions are made based on developmental observations and assessments made by the preschool director in conjunction with teacher and parent input.
