Miriam, Richard and their college age son Owen, Davis joined a Jewish heritage and cultural tour coordinated by Temple Beth Shalom, Needham MA and the Ayelet tour agency, to Cuba in January 2026. They visited four Jewish communities in Havana and Santa Clara, celebrating a youth led Shabbat with the community, brought aid to religious and community organizations, and visited major Cuban historical and cultural sites as well as newer models of cooperative enterprises. They will share information and photos about Cuba’s Jewish history and current situation as of January of this year. Miriam is the Assistant Director of Religious Exploration for the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church and Richard is retired from a career in International Programs and Education most recently at the University of Tennessee.
