Brian Salesky was born and raised in New York City. During his childhood, his parents regularly took him to Broadway and opera performances. As he puts it, “the old Met on 39th Street was my playground!” He attended the High School of Music and Art in NYC and then graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana University. Maestro Salesky first won plaudits during his six years as resident conductor and administrator with the New York City Opera including a Live From Lincoln Center telecast and working with Leonard Bernstein on Candide. On Broadway, he served as Music Director of the revival of Man of La Mancha starring Raul Julia and as Conductor of the Tony Award production of Richard Rodgers’ On Your Toes. He has conducted opera and symphony orchestras all over the world. In Knoxville, Maestro Salesky served as Artistic and Executive Director of the Knoxville Opera for 17 years. Currently he is the Artistic and Executive Director of Amadeus Concert Ensemble.
