Yom HaShoah - Holocuast Remembrance Day

"My Holocuast Legacy: An Evening with Dr. Alex Kor"

Dr. Kor is a podiatrist from Danville, Indiana, and the son of Holocaust survivors, Michael and Eva Mozes Kor. His late mother, Eva Mozes Kor, was a Mengele twin who spoke widely about her experiences. Dr. Kor accompanied his late mother to Auschwitz over twenty times. He is a member of the CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center Board of Directors and assisted in establishing an exhibit (Eva Kor from Auschwitz to Indiana) to honor his mother in Indianapolis. Before the passing of his father, also a survivor, Dr. Kor recorded his father’s story in his debut book, A Blessing, Not a Burden. The book additionally examines his parents’ lives as survivors, and how they served as positive role models. Copies of Dr. Kor’s book will be available for purchase during the reception. Proceeds go to CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center.

The event is free and open to the public. The ceremony will begin with a candle-lighting for the victims of the Holocaust and conclude with a reception and book signing with Dr. Kor. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the Knoxville Jewish Alliance gallery which will feature the traveling exhibit “Perpetrators of the Holocaust,” on loan from the Tennessee Holocaust Commission.
